2.11 Fundal height measurement: contraindications 21:

Fundal height measurements are inappropriate and should be replaced by serial scans for mothers with:

  • high BMI (≥35)
  • multiple or large uterine fibroid(s) 
  • polyhydramnios
  • multiple pregnancy

NB: For mothers receiving serial scans, SFH measurements are not required and not advised as they may add confusion to the interpretation.
