5.5 Effect on stillbirth rates

  • The effect of GAP on stillbirth rate requires large scale observational studies that analyse ‘evaluation in practice’
  • The one such study published to date looked at the effect of implementation in 3 NHS regions compared to the rest of the country. It found that there was a significant drop in NHS regions with high uptake of GAP, while the stillbirth rate did not change in the remaining regions over the same period
  • The analysis was able to conclude that this association was causal [34]
